মুন্সিগঞ্জ জেলার বুকে লুকিয়ে থাকা এই জনপদটি এক সময় ছিল জমিদার আমলের সমৃদ্ধ শহর।

ব্রিটিশ শাসনামলে নগর কসবা ছিল একটি প্রাণবন্ত প্রশাসনিক ও বাণিজ্যকেন্দ্র, যেখানে নৌপথে ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য চলত। এখানকার অলিগলি, ভগ্নপ্রায় দালানকোঠা আর পুরনো রাস্তা এখনো সেই ঐতিহাসিক দিনের গল্প বলে।

অনেকটা নারায়ণগঞ্জের বিখ্যাত পানাম নগরির মতো, নগর কসবার প্রতিটি ইট-পাথর যেন অতীতের সাক্ষী। তবে এখানে প্রায় প্রতিটি বিল্ডিং এই এখনো মানুষ বসবাস করে সুতরাং ঘুরতে গেলে অবশ্যই তাদের অনুমতি নিয়ে বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করবেন।

ঢাকা থেকে নগর কসবা যাওয়া খুবই সহজ। ঢাকা থেকে মুন্সিগঞ্জ শহর পর্যন্ত সরাসরি বাস বা প্রাইভেট কারে যেতে পারবেন। এরপর মুন্সিগঞ্জ সদর থেকে অটোরিকশা বা স্থানীয় যানবাহনে সহজেই পৌছে যাওয়া যায় নগর কসবায়। সময় লাগে মোটামুটি ১.৫ থেকে ২ ঘণ্টার মতো। পথের দুই ধারে চোখে পড়বে গ্রামের সবুজ সৌন্দর্য আর নদী-বিলের মনোমুগ্ধকর দৃশ্য, যেন ইতিহাসের পথে এক যাত্রা।

Hidden in the heart of Munshiganj, Nagar Kosba was once a thriving town during the Zamindari era. During British rule, this area served as a vibrant administrative and commercial hub, where traders relied heavily on the river routes for business. Its narrow lanes, crumbling old buildings, and ancient roads still whisper stories of a glorious past.

Much like the famous Panam City of Narayanganj, every brick and alley of Nagar Kosba stands as a silent witness to history. However, unlike Panam City, many of the old houses here are still inhabited. So if you plan to explore, make sure to take permission before entering anyone’s home.

Reaching Nagar Kosba from Dhaka is very easy. You can take a direct bus or private car to Munshiganj town, and from the city center, a short ride on an autorickshaw or local transport will take you straight to Nagar Kosba. The total journey takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Along the way, you’ll be greeted by lush green villages, serene rivers, and beautiful countryside views—making the trip feel like a journey back in time.
