কোকিল পেয়ারি জমিদার বাড়ি

ইতিহাস
কলাকোপায় সকল দর্শনীয় স্থান একটি প্রখ্যাত জমিদার বাড়িকে কেন্দ্র করে গুড়ে উঠেছে। নাম তার কোকিলপেয়ারী জমিদার বাড়ি। প্রায় ২০০ বছর আগে অর্থাৎ ১৮০০ সালে কলাকোপার জমিদার ব্রজেন দাস এই প্রাসাদটি নির্মান করেন। এটি ছিল মূলত তার আবাসস্থল। তারই নামানুসারে প্রাসাদটি 'ব্রজ নিকেতন নামেও সুপরিচিত।
অবকাঠামো
প্রায় ৪ একর জায়গায় বিস্তৃত বাগানে ঘেরা জমিদার বাড়িটির স্থাপত্যশৈলী মনোমুগ্ধকর। দোতলা ভবনের সম্মুখ ভাগেই রয়েছে ৪ টি পিলার। বাড়িটির উপরিভাগ, পিলারের নিম্ন ও শীর্ষে রয়েছে দারুন কারুকাজ। লতা আর ফুলের কারুকাজের মাঝে স্থান পেয়েছে জন্তুর মুখাবয়ব এবং সাপের মত আকৃতি।
ভবন টির সামনে ৪০-৫০ গজ দূরে রয়েছে ছোট একটি মন্দির। এই মন্দিরের ভেতরে স্থান পেয়েছে একটি মাথাবিহীন মানবমূর্তি। এই মূর্তি নিয়ে নানান কল্পকাহিনী থাকলেও ইতিহাস থেকে জানা যায়, মূর্তি টি কোকিলপেয়ারী জমিদারের বাবার মূর্তি। ১৯৭১ এ মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সমত পাকিস্তানিরা মূর্তিটির মাথা ভেংগে ফেলে। তবে বাকি অংশ আজও প্রায় অক্ষত ভাবেই রয়েছে।
কীভাবে যাবেন?
গুলিস্তানের গোলাপ শাহ মাজারের সামনে থেকে নবাবগঞ্জগামী অনেক বাসই যায়। নবকলি তন্মধ্যে অন্যতম। মাত্র ৮০ টাকায় ভাড়ায় ঘন্টা দেড়েক এর মধ্যে ঠিক জমিদার বাড়ির সামনে নামিয়ে দিবে।

Kokil Peari Zamindar House

History
Most of the attractions in Kolakopa have grown around a famous old estate known as the Kokil Peari Zamindar House. Almost two hundred years ago, around the 1800s, the zamindar of Kolakopa, Brojen Das, built this palace as his residence.
The estate is also widely known as Brojo Niketan, named after him.
Architecture
Spread over nearly four acres, this estate stands in the middle of a lush garden. The front of the two storied building has four strong pillars. The upper part of the house, along with the top and bottom of the pillars, is decorated with beautiful artwork. Between the floral and vine patterns, you will notice carvings of animal faces and shapes that look like snakes, adding a unique character to the house.
About forty to fifty yards in front of the main building stands a small temple. Inside the temple is a headless statue of a man. There are many stories and myths about this statue, but history says it belonged to the father of the zamindar.
During the Liberation War in 1971, Pakistani soldiers destroyed the head of the statue. The rest of the structure, however, remains almost untouched even today.
How to go
You can take any Nawabganj bound bus from in front of Golap Shah Mazar in Gulistan. The bus named New Koli is a common option. For only around eighty taka, it will drop you right in front of the zamindar house within an hour and a half.
