আনন্দ কুটির

কলাকোপার বিখ্যাত কোকিল পেয়ারি জমিদার বাড়ির ঠিক উল্টো পাশেই একটি দ্বিতল দালান রয়েছে। সামনেই ফলকে লেখা 'আনন্দ কুটির'।
ইতিহাস
কলাকোপার অন্যতম দর্শশনীয় ভবন এই আনন্দ কুটির। এর সঠিক ইতিহাস অজানা থাকলেও ধারনা করা হয়, ১৯২০ এর দিকে স্থানীয় এক হিন্দু পন্ডিত শ্রী আনন্দ মোহন কুটিরটি নির্মান করেন। এটি মূলত একটু আধ্যাতিক আশ্রয় যা ভারতবর্ষের আধ্যাত্মিক আন্দোলনের ফল। ভারতবর্ষে মানুষকে মুক্তির ব্যাপারে সচেতন করতে হিন্দু পুরোহিত ও সন্ন্যাসীদের একটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা ছিল। ফকির-সন্ন্যাসী আন্দোলন আমাদের সকলেরই জানা।
বিংশ শতাব্দীর শুরুর দিকে ঢাকায় আনন্দ কুটিরে হিন্দু সন্যাসি ও পুরোহিতরা আসতেন। তারা ধর্ম চর্চা করতেন। একই সাথে করতেন রাজনীতি।
অবকাঠামো
দোতলা এই ভবনটিতে রয়েছে নান্দনিক স্থাপত্যশৈলী এবং কারুকাজে সজ্জিত দেয়াল। বাড়ির মূল ফটকে পিলার গুলো এখন সবুজ রঙে রাঙা। সামনের বারান্দা দিয়ে ভেতরে প্রবেশ করা যায়। মূল ভবন বেশ ভালভাবে মেরামত করা হয়েছে। তবে পেছনে উঠোন আর আশেপাশে কিছু ছনতোলা ঘর জীর্ণ অবস্থায়ই বিদ্যমান।

Right across from the famous Kokil Peari Zamindar House in Kolakopa stands a quiet two storied building. At the front, a sign reads Anondo Kutir.
History
Anondo Kutir is one of the notable historical structures in Kolakopa. Its exact history is not clearly known, but it is believed that around the 1920s a local Hindu scholar named Shri Ananda Mohan built this place.
The building served as a spiritual retreat inspired by the spiritual movements that spread across the Indian subcontinent. Hindu priests and monks played a significant role at that time in raising awareness about spiritual liberation. The Fakir Sannyasi movement is something most of us already know about.
In the early twentieth century, Hindu monks and priests used to come to Anondo Kutir in Dhaka. They practiced religion here and also discussed politics. The place was a blend of spirituality and social thought.
Architecture
The two storied structure carries beautiful design elements and decorative wall patterns. The pillars at the main gate are now painted green. You enter the house through the front verandah.
The main building has been fairly well renovated, standing strong with its classic look. But the backyard and the nearby small thatched rooms remain worn and aged, adding a rustic charm to the place.
